So this week has been a challenge as a parent. K-Dub has not been listening to me or BrittWhitFun at all. She has been throwing tantrum after tantrum and meal times have become a war zone of wills. I know that K-Dub is going to be too on Wednesday and she is trying to push her boundaries but her mom and dad can’t are losing their minds.
So my wife bought a timeout chair And the discipline war began. We decided that in order to correct our daughter we needed to set some ground rules.
1. Never discipline when you are angry
2. Always have each other’s back
3. Be consistent and follow through.
So dinner the next night K-Dub wanted to sit in my wife’s lap and eat her food off her plate. We told her that she had her own chair and her own food that was the same thing mommy had on her plate. K-Dub was not having it and screamed loud to high heaven. After about a minute of fighting we broke out the chair.
My wife put her on the chair and explained why she was there and said she had to sit there for one minute. K-Dub just screamed louder and tried to get up and my wife said the timer was going to start over. This went on for about five minutes.
Soon she came back to the table and ate her dinner in her seat and all was well. It was a parenting win.
Sometimes when it comes to steering your child in the right direction you need to result into extreme measures. I am a firm believer in spanking cause my mom and dad beat my butt almost everyday. I turned out fine. But when you are married you need to work together. You can’t let your little ankle biter think she owns you.
What do you think about disciplining children? Spank or Timeout?
Good Luck Parents!
