Going Through The Holidays

It has been a while since my last post and a lot has happened. The holidays are full swing here at our house but lets catch up first.

Halloween was a lot of fun. I dressed us as Flynn Rider while K-Dub dressed like Rapunzel. Evie was Mickey Mouse and BrittWhitFun was a witch. Check out our pics.

No Halloween could be complete without some pumpkin carving and trunk or treating with the nephews.

Thanksgiving is and will always be my favorite holiday and this year was no exception. I made lunch for about 10 people and I made all the fixings. I made the turkey, Mac and cheese, green beans, stewed cabbage, mash potatoes, and rolls. I also made cake pops for the kids, a butterfinger cheesecake, and a apple pie. It was so good I spent the rest of the afternoon passed out on the couch.

Now we are at Christmas and our house is in the full Christmas spirt. The gifts are bought, tree is up, and the lights are shining outside.

Got some great stories coming on the blog this week after having a reader reach out to me wanting an update. Stay tuned.

Ponys & Country Roads

We had a complete Saturday filled with birthday parties. When you become a parent these types of weekends are normal. You have to plan your shopping trips in accord to make sure you get enough presents for the party that you are scheduled to attend. Its the circle of life.

My niece Hayden was born on the Fourth of July so her parents had the party the next weekend so we headed down for a My Little Pony birthday party. The house was completley decorated and looked amazing. The kids played outside in a pool. K-Dub had a ball.

After singing to the birthday girl it was time to move onto party number two. This one was all the way on the back roads of Anson County, which is my old stomping grounds.

On the way out there I was was reminded about how beautiful those country roads can be. I would not move out there but it was still a pretty site.

This party was for a friend of my wife’s little girl. I have to say that I never felt more comfortable with a group of strangers then I did at that party. Everyone was nice and greeted us and talked with us. It was nice.

My Perfect Father’s Day

Just when I think my little girls could not surprise me anymore, they do. I had a great Father’s Day and thanks to my girls and my amazing wife, I was showered with love the entire day.

I woke up to “Happy Father’s Day” from K-Dub, which was followed by lots of hugs and kisses. After we got dressed they handed me their homemade cards. Nothing is better then a homemade card.

I was taken to my favorite breakfast spot which is Stacks in Waxhaw. If you ever go I suggest you go early as the line can get crazy. We stuffed our faces with pancakes, French toast, and hash browns and bacon. So good and so worth it!

After breakfast went on our usual Sunday Target run to get some things for the week and my wife bought me some new clothes. When we got home, I left with K-Dub and went to see Cars 3. It was a great time with just the two of us. I spoiled her with candy and popcorn and she soaked up every minute with me.

When we got home we went swimming for a couple of hours at the neighborhood pool and then went home where I made my famous Mac and cheese with fried squash and cornbread. It was yummy! Then I was treated to Pelican’s Snowcones in Waxhaw. This place is so good. They over 50 flavors and it is very affordable. I got cherry margarita and blue raspberry. So good.

I loved my Father’s Day. I got to spend it with my girls who I love more then anything in this world. Being a dad is the best job I could ask for and one that I never take for granted.

My Kids Are Special

This week we have had a lot of issues with our kids. I know every parent has issues with their kids but now it is my turn to vent a little.

Lets start with the oldest. K-Dub is having an issue wetting the bed. I am not sure how we have gotten to this point in our lives but I am so tired of striping this bed and washing sheets every day. I know my wife is because she is the one my kid was up in the middle of night to strip her wet pee soaked clothes off and put clean PJs on. I guess as dads we are automatically blocked from the kid waking us up in the middle of the night. My poor wife.

This has been going on for almost two weeks and I am tired of it. I have done everything in my power to help the situation. I started cutting her off the water an hour before bed and even pleaded with her. What else can you do? If your response is to wait it out then SHUT UP! Sorry that was a little extreme but you have to understand my frustrations.

If you have any advice please let me know.

The little one. This kid has a very serious attitude problem and if you are fooled by the cute smile then you are an idiot. Sorry again, it has been a crazy week. She actually got kicked out of class at daycare a few months ago cause she kept hitting the kids who were trying to nap. She is mean and if she does not like you then watch those tiny hands. They are about to come down on you.

I am not one to allow violence in my house by any means. Evie gets punished trust me. The only person that matters most to this little girl is her mom. If you take away the fact that her free line to unlimited milk is nestled in the breast of my bride then she would fall victim to these horrible acts of violence to. No one is safe from Evie. I don’t even get kisses from this girl. I get her forehead pushed against mine. Talk about disrespect.

Ok I am done venting now. I love my kids but sometimes that are real assholes. I mean I would walk on fire for them but sometimes I think they know this and try to take advantage of their old man. Anyways I know this is going to be temporary and I am going to look back on this post a year from now and laugh…or at least I hope.

Have a great weekend! See you next week!

Happy Easter!!!!

So it is that time of year where we get our kids dressed up in the finest outfits and get their pictures made so we can show them to our friends and get the “oh your kids are so cute” reaction. Yes that is what I am fixing to do here.

We recently had the girls get their pictures made for Easter cause I mean how cute can that be? Real cute as it turns out and let me be the first to say that my kids are beyond cute.

Anyways HAPPY EASTER from our family to yours! Enjoy you Easter Sunday this week!

Daddy And Daughter Movie Night

After a crazy week at the office and all the stuff going on with my mom I needed a night out with one of my special ladies. She is smart, funny, and loves to carry on a conversation. My wife was busy so K-Dub.

I really have not seen her lately. With late visits at the hospital I have missed dinner and bedtime with her. So tonight I asked her if she wanted to go on a date with daddy and the excitement on her face was enough to melt my heart.

We went to the movies and saw The Secret Life Of Pets and it was cute. I bought K-Dub a little kids try with popcorn, candy and a drink and she sat in my lap and did not move.

Afterwards we went to the grocery store and headed home. She told me that she liked our date and wanted to do it again soon. I can’t wait!

Saturday Adventures

Today my wife and I went to our town’s semi annual consignment sale. K-Dub had no 4T clothes so we needed to stock up.

Through the years my wife and I have become pros at these sales. We always bring our own bag and work together on picking out the clothes.

This sale we managed to get all of K-Dubs fall clothes and even got her a pair of shoes.

After the sale we went and had a nice family breakfast at Stacks in Waxhaw which is by far the best breakfast place ever.

Later we picked K-Dub from her Grandmas house and went and saw my mom at the hospital. She was going much better today. She could speak better and she was starting to get some feeling back on her left side. Thanks to all of you for your kind comments, phone calls, text, and Facebook messages. Mom has a long recovery ahead but we are very hopefully.
