Back At It Again

It has been a long time since my last entry. There really are no other excuses other then life happens and that sometimes breaks are a must. That does not mean that I am not ever coming back. It just means that my time was spent on more important things like my kids and family.

There last entry I posted was in February and so many things have happened since then. Let me take a second and update you.

K-Dub is getting big. I sometimes cannot believe she is five cause I swear in the last few months she has hit a growth spurt. She looks more like she is 7. In my last update I told you she was starting dance. She has since had her first ever recital and loves it. We have plans for her to re-enroll in the fall.

Speaking of enrollment… K-Dub is starting Kindergarten in less then three weeks! Where did the time go? We were very lucky she got accepted at one of the local charter schools near where we live. She is excited and this weekend I am going to start gathering her school supplies while BrittWhitFun gets her school uniforms. I just can’t believe that we are finally at this moment and it makes me sad and joyful.

Evie is a force of nature. She has been getting big also. She has really come around on the loving Dad front and now she never wants to leave my side unless Mom is around. She has been really trying to grasp this whole potty training thing. She has #1 down by #2 has been a really struggle for not only her but for Mom and Dad. I may have stepped on poop while putting her on the potty. It just kind of rolled out of her underwear. Sorry. I hope you were not eating when you read this.

We have tried to transition Evie from her crib to toddler bed but it was a disaster so we decided to keep the crib a little longer. She is just not ready and until she is fully potty trained she really needs to stay in her crib.

Here are some of the other highlights of the past few months:

My SIL got married back in April.

K-Dub learned to swim

My brother and I could not be better

My brother dressed like a lady for charity

I decided to take on swimming

Easter was a lot of fun.

We went to the Zoo

I won Coordinator of the Quarter

Had a great Mother’s Day Mingle At The Mint Event

Got a Vasectomy and my wisdom teeth out in the same month

K-Dub graduated from Preschool

BrittWhitFun and I celebrated 7 years of marriage

I tried float therapy and like it and did not drown

I did a build for Habitat for Humanity

Enjoyed 4th of July with friends

What is next for the family? We have a lot of things coming up. K-Dub starting school, Evie is turning 3 and we are heading back to Disney World in less then 90 days and I am not even close to being ready!

As always comments are appreciated and I can’t wait to here from you.

Happy Easter!!!!

So it is that time of year where we get our kids dressed up in the finest outfits and get their pictures made so we can show them to our friends and get the “oh your kids are so cute” reaction. Yes that is what I am fixing to do here.

We recently had the girls get their pictures made for Easter cause I mean how cute can that be? Real cute as it turns out and let me be the first to say that my kids are beyond cute.

Anyways HAPPY EASTER from our family to yours! Enjoy you Easter Sunday this week!

Do Your Bunny Ears Hang Low?

So this weekend was Easter and I have to say that my daughter had a blast! Everywhere she went it was for a celebration and I think that my kid was in an extreme sugar high due to all the candy and chocolate she consumed. One thing is very certain and that is that my kid not has an extreme love for jelly beans. One of the great things about Easter weekend is that by the end of the day you are left with an exhaustion that is so unbearable that you are crawling to the foot of your bed. Maybe I am being silly but that was the way I felt Sunday night.

Our fun and festive weekend started on Thursday at K-Dub’s daycare. They had a festive Easter egg hunt, which was the first of many, and each kid got to get their picture taken wearing bunny ears. I was sent the picture below and I have to say that I smiled. Seeing your kid happy I the ultimate reward. Isn’t the reason why we parent? When we picked her up from her fun-filled day at school she ran towards my wife with open arms and completely left me in the dust. My feelings were hurt but every dad knows that no one compares to mom. True story. The entire way home we were told stories about her friends Jonah and Aubrey and Eric. It was actually the cutest conversation I have ever had with her. I am so glad that she has friends.

On Friday, which was Good Friday, I had to work cause the newspaper never closes. My wife was off and took our daughter to my mother’s house where we have a standing tradition of dyeing eggs, making Easter baskets, eating breakfast, and toping it off with a big egg hunt. It is considered my mom’s Easter and she loves having all of her grandkids together. I think they like it too. It’s always fun to see what is in going to be in K-Dub’s basket when she comes home. Maybe next year I will get to go but for now I love seeing picture like this of my sweet daughter and nieces.   On Saturday, we had a little family fun. We decided to dye our own eggs. K-Dub loves it and I have to say that I had a blast myself. After we finished with dying eggs we did another egg hunt in our front yard.

Finally it was Easter and K-Dub came downstairs for breakfast to be greeted with the basket that the Easter Bunny left her. It was filled with coloring books, a ball, chocolate bunnies, and bubbles! She loved it but got mad when we told her that candy was not going to be what she was going to have for breakfast.

After we ate breakfast, we got ready and headed to church and enjoyed a great Easter celebration at The Lift!

After church we went to my wife’s sister’s house and ate some great chicken, mac and cheese(my recipe of course), and some even more amazing carrot cake. I was miserable in a great way after all that amazing food. After the kids ate and napped, we did a final egg hunt and watched them fight over eggs and other toys before saying goodbye and heading home.

I was so tired but I had a 11 mile run to do that was by far the hardest thing to do. By the end of the night I passed out and did not move a muscle until the next morning when it was time to get up and head to crossfit.

I love Easter but like most holidays, I am so glad to see them go or in this case hop away.

Nothing Like A Hopping Easter!

I hope everyone had an awesome Easter this past weekend!

My Easter weekend left me tired and exhausted. I had to work on Saturday like always but I managed to leave a little early and get home around 3. I was greeted at the door by my wife and daughter with smiles on their faces. The house smelled good with steaming posts coming from the stove. Then my mother-in-law and her husband came around the corner and greeted me. My mother-in-law is an amazing cook and was making me one of my favorite dishes which is cube steak and gravy. It is an amazing dish and goes great with some mashed potatoes and green beans.

After stuffing my face with most likely too much food to the point where I sat miserably on the couch, we sat and enjoyed some light conversation over pieces of red velvet cake and coffee. It was too much for me around nine and I had to get some sleep. We had to get up and go to church in the morning.

Easter Sunday finally came and BrittWhitFun and I got up and got all of the Easter Bunny gifts out and waited for K-Dub to wake up. Once she did we gave her the Easter basket we spent almost a month making. She smiled and tried to put most of the stuff in her mouth. We got her some sidewalk chalk, a bubble gun, and some sand toys but no candy cause she is a little too young for a sugar rush.

We then all got dressed which was a task all in itself. I tried on five pairs of pants before I found a pair that fit me due to my extreme weight loss. It felt good but I was starting to get in a hurry. You could tell that I don’t wear dress up clothes very often. They were wearing me. We all gathered in the living room and then walked outside in the front yard and made some family photos. Then we told my mother-in-law and her husband goodbye, as the had stayed overnight, and we headed to church.

After church we came home and but K-Dub down for a nap, while we almost took one too. Soon it was time to get up and make two pans of my not so but almost famous mac and cheese and head to my sister-in-law’s house for Easter dinner. So we got K-Dub up and changed into outfit number two and got in the car.

My sister-in-law, Kate had her house decorated in Easter decor it looked great. My brother-in-law invited his parents over and they made this barbeque that would make you want to slap your mother! We had so much food that included hash brown casserole, cole slaw, deviled eggs, and rolls. I had not choice but to happily cheat on my diet and eat like it was no one’s business. After dinner we enjoyed some amazing italian love cake and the kids went outside for pictures while the rest of nursed our full stomachs on the couch.

Soon it was time to head to the house to get K-Dub to bed. I had to roll off the couch to get to the car. Once we got home he had what can only be named as the worse night in the history of me being a parent. I will explain everything tomorrow. All and all Easter was great. I enjoyed spending time with my family and I did make my yearly day after Easter trip to Target for some great discounted Reese’s Eater Eggs. Those things are the highlight of my spring. I want one right now.

Back To The Track And To Domestic Life

Well after coming off my big accomplishment this past weekend and from the pain of falling down the stairs on Monday, I have decided that I need to start getting ready for my next race which is in four weeks. So Wednesday night I decided to hit the track.

This week has not one, not two, but three days of race training back to back. Each day are 5k race training simulations. I am going to die before these next three days are over. It has to be done so that I can run this next race at a good time.

Along with my race training this week, I have spent a lot of time trying to get the house back in order from when my family and I were gone. This includes a crap load of laundry, fighting the never-ending battle of vacuuming the dog hair off the carpet, and cleaning up the kitchen. I guess you can say the last two are never-ending battles.

I am very thankful that my wife is always there to help me. She hates laundry and I love to do it so that job is always mine. She helps me clean the kitchen if she sees me playing with K-Dub in the living room. You have to keep her distracted or she will be at your heels trying to get you to pick her up, or playing in the dishwasher, or having a make out session with the fridge. Yea, kids are very strange. I guess we will keep her.

Once I get my house straight, I guess it will be time for Easter and that means that by the time this coming weekend is over, I will have to start cleaning the house all over. It’s fine cause I love my family and they are worth it.

I hope you all have a great Easter and I will talk to you next week!

The Reese’s Easter Egg Hunt From Hell!

candy

I love Easter and everything that comes with it. Going to church, getting dressed up, coloring eggs, making a basket for my daughter, and chocolate bunnies are just a few of the things that I look forward to during this season. When Easter comes you know that it is officially Spring Time, which is one of my favorite times of the year. The only think that sucks about Spring is the all that stupid pollen getting on your car. I hate that stuff. My car always looks like I Big Bird came all over it. Stupid Big Bird!

The best thing about Easter is what happens the day after Easter. Thats right my other fat friends! It’s the day where all the stores slap a 50% off sticker on all the Easter merchandise. Its a big deal cause there is one thing that I will beat an old lady down for. This wonderful confection is known as the Reese’s Easter Egg! These things are so good. They are not like regular Reese’s peanut butter cups, but better! They have so much more peanut butter and chocolate goodness in them. I consider them my reward for my Easter festivities that I went through, however, obtaining these sweet candies from heaven is nothing to take lightly.

Monday morning I got up and got my daughter ready for our outing which was really hard cause she hates her car seat. I had to explain to her that Daddy had some important errands to run and she had to come along. She of course did not understand me and continued to scream at the top of her lungs until I just put her in the car and started playing Justin Timberlake and she passed out. Please remember that Justin Timberlake’s sexy man voice makes panties fall and kids go to sleep. True story. Finally we were on our way.

I pulled into my local Target store and got the rugrat out and headed inside. It never ceases to amaze me how many women look at a man with baby and a diaper bag. I mean some of those women could have turned me to stone they were staring so hard. Now I have to confess that they were actually staring at the handbags behind me that were on sale, but a man can dream can’t he? Karsyn was still asleep so I put her in the buggie and headed down to the Easter aisle.

When I arrived there was not that many people there so I thought this was going to be an easy task. I walk the aisles and could not find the Reese’s Easter Eggs. Was I too late? Did people already come and get them? How many people are as addicted to these things as me? Does this post make me sound like a fatty? Please don’t answer that last one. I looked at the front of the aisle in awe as I saw the holy grail of Easter candy. There was only one problem….. there was only three one pound bags left and 2 trays of 6 of the larger eggs left. I raced to the display and then to my shock an old lady cut me off. Now I am generally a nice guy but this lady was a devil in a huge floral dress. She smiled at me as she cut me off. I looked at her and thought “you bitch!!” I was not about to let this old lady come between me and my beloved clearance Easter treats. Game on old lady, game on!

What happened next was not one of my most proud moment. Please don’t judge me and/or call the police on me for what I did. I am still having trouble sleeping at night. I griped my shopping cart tightly and rammed it in to the side of the old lady’s cart, causing it to swing into the center aisle. I looked at the old lady, who looked like I had just ran over her dog, and said “I am so sorry Mam, I did not see you there” with the biggest smile I could manage to give. I turned and grabbed the last packages of Reese Easter Eggs and started on my way but not before helping the old lady retrieve her shopping cart. I of course did it with a huge “don’t fuck with me” look along with a little swag in my step.

Then the old lady looked at me defeated, and like The Grinch, my heart grew two sizes that day. I reached in my cart and grabbed two bags of candy and gave them to her and said “I think this is what you came for”. I am not going to lie it was beginning to look like a 90’s sitcom with the sad music that starts playing when the conflict is resolved at the end of the episode. Yes, I have seen way too many episodes of Full House. The old lady looked at me and said thanks and went about her shopping trip like she had just won the Olympics.

I picked up a few more items I came for and headed to the front to pay. I felt like I won the lottery! I know that these little yellow packages of pure peanut butter awesomeness won’t last forever but that is what makes them so special. They only come around once a year and when you get them you have to cherish them. Just like those moments in life. I learned a lot that day but one thing sticks out more than others. It wasn’t not to hit old women’s shopping carts, or Justin Timberlake can make you kid go to sleep, or that I look good carrying a diaper bag. It was that when it comes to the day after Easter, I need to get up a hell of a lot earlier if I want more of those sweet treats. See you next year Reese’s Easter Eggs!

She Has No Idea What Easter Is But Look At All The Cool Stuff!

20130403-110216.jpg

Karsyn had her first Easter on Sunday and this girl got so much stuff. I think the Easter Bunny may have went a little overboard but it’s this kids first Easter. She did not even know what was going on. I am not going to lie that I was pretty jealous the Easter Bunny did not bring anything for me. I had to get up Monday morning a race to Target and get 50% off Reese’s Easter Eggs. Was it worth the trip? Hell yes!!!
