K-Dub’s Little Adventure

IMG_2892 One of the things I look most forward to as a parent is not planning birthday parties, trips to the park, or hanging around watching cartoons. My favorite thing in the whole world is when someone asks me or my wife if they could take my kid for a few hours.

I know you might think I am a horrible parent and don’t get me wrong, I love spending time with my children. Sometimes I need some time away. Some time to reming myself that I am a human who has interest and a life outside of being a father. I find these times most cherished between my wife and I.

So today my wife and I had the opportunity to have K-Dub spend time with her grandparents. I immediately said yes. Now we only had to deal with Evie and she is by far the easy kid. A meal time with no fights made want to stand up and dance.

So her Pop picked her up from school and they went and got a doughnut. Then horseback riding farm followed. After that she ate corn on the cob.

What did Mom and Dad do? Ate a nice steak dinner with a baked potoato, had a real conversation about adult stuff, watched TV that was not animated. It was the best 45 minutes of my life.

When K-Dub finally came home she was so happy. She told us all about her adventures with Pop. The it hit me like a ton of bricks. I actually missed her. I missed her a lot actually.

I guess this is a losing battle cause I love my alone time. I crave it, however, I love spending time with my kids and the highlight of my day is dinner and cartoons before they go to bed. I guess my girls have me wrapped around their little fingers.

A Very Snowy Birthday

IMG_0375

Well this weekend were blessed to have a crazy snow storm. i have to say that I hate snow. Its really pretty when its falling but i don’t like it to stay. The only thing other than snow I hate is ice. ICE SUCKS!

Before we go into all that snowy stuff, i just have to say that I can’t believe that my little girl is three years old. That is right, K-Dub turned three on Thursday and I am not sure how I feel about. On one end, I like that she is getting older, smarter, more energetic, and wants to be around me and my wife all the time. ALL THE TIME! Then I am sad cause my little girl is growing up and I feel it is happening so fast. I used to hear that all the time but never truly paid it any attention until I had kids of my own. They were right. Soon K-Dub will be driving, then college and then getting married.

As of right now she is obsessed with princesses, puzzles, The Lion Guard, and a new found love of Rugrats thanks to Hulu! She enjoys eating chicken nuggets, fruit, fruit snacks, apples, apple juice, oatmeal, and pasta. She also will tell you that Mommy is her best friend and that Daddy is her girl.

Since this past Thursday was her birthday, we planned an amazing Cinderella party at our house but the weather had other plans. We had to cancel the party and schedule it for the following weekend. It kind of worked out good cause K-Dub was coming down with a killer cold.

But we did manage to play in the snow…

#PregnancyProblems Weeks 13 to 18

Well we finally made to the reveal of the gender of our second child. I have to say that this pregnancy has left me wondering if maybe this time around I was going to be having a son. My wife has been very sick all the time, She has craved sour pickles, her belly was what seemed to me, carrying the baby very high. All signs were pointing to a boy.

We decided that we were going to wait and find out with our family. We had the ultrasound tech place the gender in a sealed envelope and we gave it to a trust friend and that went and bought silly string. After covering the cans so we would not see the color, they were placed in a gender natural bag and stapled it shut.

We gathered our family around at the local park. We provided doughnuts and water but we knew that the only thing they cared about was what was in the bad. After handing out the can we stood together and counted down. 1…2…3… SPRAY!!!!

It was revealed that we were going to have a… GIRL!!!!

Yes another girl! I have to admit that I was a little upset. I swore up and down that this one was going to be a boy. I think that it would have been great to have a boy cause it would have been a new adventure for my wife and I. Unfortunately, the world had other plans for us. I have to say that as I sat and thought about it, I am actually really excited about having another girl. K-Dub loves me to pieces and I she is really a Daddy’s girl. So as of today I am ok with another girl.

As for a name, Everly Mae will be joining our family this October. We are already so in love!

My First Father’s Day!

First let me say that i am so sorry that i have been away from my computer so long. i have had a lot of stuff happen in the past month. I have become an uncle for the second time as you can see the pictures above of my sweet nephew Holden. I have also been busy with some new interest that I can’t wait to blog about. I just want to touch base with you all and share my experience as I celebrated my first Father’s Day.

I woke up pretty early cause my 4 month, who turns 5 months on Friday, was placed on my chest. She had a canvas the said Happy Father’s Day and a card. She even had that sweet smile that I am so madly in love with. My wife of course helped her decorate he canvas and come up with the sweet words that were written in the card. it was perfect and I could not ask for a better present.

After getting showers and playing while watching Sophia The First on Disney Junior, we took my dad out for lunch, and as you can see in the pictures above, he and Karsyn had a great time. I love my dad and he really is amazing. He is like my best friend and we have so much in common. He is always there for me and my family. He may have been absent when I was younger but he was there for me when I had my sweet girl. He is the best grandpa.

After lunch we went to Brittney’s sister’s house and made ice cream with the new homemade ice cream makers that Brittney’s dad bought Spencer and I. Spencer is my brother-in-law and Holden’s dad. We ate ice cream and talked about the babies and enjoyed an afternoon photo session.

All and all My first Father’s Day was the best. I look forward to many more. I am so glad to be the father to such a pretty little girl who brightens my day with her big smile. I just wish she did not grow up so fast.

Just had to share this picture that our nanny/Aunt Erica sent me this morning on Instagram. It’s pictures like this that get me through the workday.

(#5) The Gender Is Revealed

20120901-222813.jpg

Well it’s been 20 weeks in the making and I mean that literally. Finally Brittney and I were going to find out the sex of our baby. We have been so excited for this moment and could not wait to call our kid by their real name instead of referring to them as “IT” all the time.

When we got to the doctor’s office we just could not wait to get back there and found a since of relief as the girl called our name. We went back in a rather large room and Brittney jump on the table and pulled her shirt up like a pro. As the technician was performing the ultrasound we held hands and smiled at the glimpse of our baby’s growth. It is amazing watching it move around. When the technician finally told us what we were having, we both looked at each other and smiled.

Before Brittney got pregnant she told me that she wanted to do a Gender Reveal Party. I have never heard of these and if I am being honest here, I thought that it sounded stupid. I did go along with the idea.

For anyone who does not know what this type of party consist of, please let me tell you. You bake a cake with the inside dyed either pink or blue and call your families and either go out to dinner or host one at your house. Real simple right? The hardest part is keeping it a secret until the party.

We chose to have our dinner at Olive Garden in Monroe. Both of our families came and we enjoyed a really nice meal with light conversation. Then the moment everyone was waiting for. The cake! We brought the cake out and had our families gather around as Brittney and I cut into it and revealed that it was………

A GIRL!!!!!

Brittney and I are so happy to announce that we are going to have a daughter. Our families are very excited and can’t wait to welcome the newest addition to the clan. Now with only 20 more weeks left to go, I can say that I am truly excited to hold my baby girl for the first time. Karsyn Leigh Funderburke is going to be real daddy’s girl and I am sure I will be wrapped around her finger. Can’t wait! She makes my heart melt already!
