So the last you heard I was recovering from my gout incident. I have to say that was painful but now my leg is back to normal. I felt better and ready to hit the gym hard.
My car ended up being totaled and now I am in the process of getting my Dad’s truck put in my name. I have been very lucky to have my brother who is letting me use his truck until we solve all the legal matters.
Now when my foot was feeling better I came back to the gym angry. Angry cause not only was I put on my butt for a week and missed so much, but I have a race coming up soon and I need to get my strength training in sometime.
So not only did I kill it in the gym but I managed to get four PRs in a two week period.
1 Mile Run- 7:10
Back Squat- 295
Squat Clean- 215
Now it is back to getting ready for The Greek Festival 5k and doing a lot of running, which I have ignored cause it has been way to hot these days.

I have to say that this week has been a challenge. I am so glad that it is over and that I am still in one piece. Lets just say that this week of race training did not go according to plan. I only managed to get in two workouts this week. Not my usual best.
Let me start from the top.
Since my niece’s birthday party I was having some issues with my foot. I am now convinced that I had an early flare up of gout which is never my friend. Not to sound like a doctor but gout sucks and its very preventable if you stay way from certain foods. Excess sugar, alcohol, seafood to name the majority of them.
So I went to crossfit Monday and did the workout with no issue at all. i felt great. Then Wednesday came and I had an easy meeting to get to at the office so I had to skip crossfit. I am so lucky cause not only does my office have a free full service gym but them have a full locker room complete with showers.
So I managed to get a 3 mile run in and I did my own crossfit workout of 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 thrusters using two 40lb dumbbells followed by a 100 meter row. I felt good and accomplished and I got my workout in way before my meeting.

Excuse the picture of feet. but you can tell that the right foot is slightly swollen then the left. I will tell you that the pain was horrible. I could barely get out of bed. Gout sucks and is the worst thing to get for a thirty year old male.
So I started drinking apple cider vinegar mixed with water. This a home remedy I learned about when I worked part-time at the paper and had no health insurance. Drink this three times a day and it will also help you poop.
Friday I was still in a lot of pain but managed to make it through my work day. So glad it was Friday. I needed this weekend to relax and spend some much-needed time with my wife and kids. I was on the way home when this happened…
The story is quite simple and there is even a moral to it. I was at a stop light minding my own business. All the sudden I looked up and this young girl was coming up behind me at full speed looking at her cell phone and not at the road. She plowed into the back of my car. I felt fine at the accident but as anyone who has ever been in a wreck knows, is that you feel the pain the next morning. Despite a little back pain on Saturday, i felt amazing and my gout was slowly going away. The moral of this story is quite simple. GET OFF YOUR CELL PHONE WHEN DRIVING!!!! It’s not worth running into the back of someone’s car. The funny thing about this is that this is the third time in less than a year someone has run into my car. I can’t wait to call my insurance company in the morning.
I am very confident that this week will be better complete with good vibes and optimistic thinking. I am going to head back to the gym this week and get some more race training in. I have a long way to go before race season is finished.

I really don’t know what’s wrong with me lately. Maybe it’s the stress of my job or the fact that I can’t seem to get caught up on stuff at the house? I have just been in a terrible mood the past few days. It’s getting to the point where not even my wife wants to talk to me. It’s beginning to be a real problem.
Sometimes I find that being a husband and a father is hard. Like really hard. Making the tough choices for your family is not easy. Being the cook, housekeeper, playmate, fake kitchen customer, lover, friend, and banker can be enough to make you want to to scratch your eyeballs out. I have to say that I do love my life but there are times where I just want to get in my pantry and close the door and just cry.
My parental friends don’t see this as a weakness but as notion to survival. They tell me that things will get better and that when it comes to your family you can’t give up. They are of course right.
This week my job has been crazy. My boss just told us today that she is leaving. It made me sad and as much as I want her to stay I know that she has the best intentions and at the end of the day you have to do what’s best for you and yours. Then my foot is almost healed but is taking it time. I am so ready to get back to running. My runner friends tell me that this is a sign that I was doing too much. Maybe they are right but man I miss the high.
I love my kid but there are times where I just want to scream like almost every dinner time. She won’t eat or won’t eat what we fix her. My wife is a lot nicer then I am cause I have one rule in my kitchen and that is you eat what make or your font eat at all. I found out real fast that that rule only applies if you are five and younger.
I am hoping that now since we are at “hump day” then things will start to get better. I have a great weekend planned and another summer adventure to blog about as well as other things.
It amazes me how when you start a new blog entry you are throwing a pity party for yourself but then at the end you are as optimistic as possible.

Ok I know that everyone is really tired of hearing about my crazy foot pain the week so I have one last story and then I am done talking about I promise.
I went to work yesterday dealing with pain. I could not even put my tennis show on cause it was so swollen. So I ended up leaving early from work and heading to Urgent Care to get it checked. It turns out it was gout. I thought it was. So I got the usual prescription and left.
My dad surprised me with a free ticket to see the new X-Men movie. I had already promised him I would go and plus it was the freaking X-Men! So we got there early and I listen to my dad give me spoilers of upcoming episodes of Game of Thrones and recap the the entire latest season of Two and Half Men. Does anyone still watch that? Soon the movie started.
Right before the ending I felt like I was going to cry. Now because of the movie, even though it was awesome enough to, but because my pain went from an 8 to a 12. Finally the movie was over and I looked down and my foot had swelled up even more than what it was. I looked like Fred Flintstone. So I had to limp back to the car.
I wish I got a picture of how big it was so you guys did not think I was just being a little bitch. Today I look better and I can actually walk on it without looking like Little Moe with the gimpy leg.
Ok I am done. No more talk about my crazy foot issue anymore. Just take two things away from this post. They are that gout sucks and the new X-Men movie is awesome!
