One of my favorite things about summer is that I can finally catch up on some of my shows that I have been missing and also discover new shows that I have been meaning to see. The summer is a great time to do this cause all of my shows are over till September and I now get to work on getting caught up before the new season starts.
This year I have decided to make a list of shows and that I either need to finish watching or start before the end of the summer. So far I have knock out a lot.
Daredevil (Last 4 episodes)
Grace and Frankie (Season 1)
Hot In Cleveland (6 episodes)
Secrets and Lies (3 episodes)
- Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D (10 episodes)
- House of Cards (Seasons 2 & 3)
- Orange Is The New Black (Season 3)
- Extant (Season 1)
Under The Dome (Seasons 1 & 2)
- Hannibal (Season 3)
- The Slap (3 episodes)

Family Guy (4 episodes)
The Simpsons (4 episodes)
- Extreme Weight Loss (Season 5)

- Broadchurch (Season 1)
Melissa and Joey (7 episodes)
Baby Daddy (7 episodes)
So far I have manage to knock out a lot of my list and its just now June. I hope I can knock the rest off before September. What are you binge watching?
This past week I did something I don’t get to do very often. I actually binge watched a TV show. Most of my time is filled with either blogging, reading, working from home, or cleaning the house so I never get to stop and watch a show from start to finish.
Saturday I was messing around on my Kindle when I went to Netflix to see what was new in the queue. I saw a show called Bloodline that was new and I went online and read some about what the show was. It was a show about a dysfunctional family with secrets and lies and a brother that is the cause of it. It had a lot of great people in so I decided to try it out. I am so glad I did.
From Saturday afternoon to Sunday night I finished the first half of the 13 episode season. I was hooked and could not wait to watch another one. found myself this week watching an episode before leaving for work or before bed. I finally finished the show last night and I have to say it was great. I hope it comes back for a second season.
Now that I am done with Bloodline, I need a new binge worthy show as soon as I finish some books I have out. I still have not seen the second season of House of Cards. I might do that next.
My wife and I decided to lower our TV package. We are going to do that for a month or so and if we still don’t see a difference we will cut service and be a streaming family,
I know a lot of families that are always trying to find new ways to save money. Since I started couponing to save my family money, it has become more of an obsession than anything. Now all I am constantly doing is looking for great deals on anything that may benefit my family.
I have read a few blogs about becoming a frugal family. I found an entry about a year ago that was written by a mom who only has a budget of $50 a month. That includes gas, food, and clothes. Now I don’t want to be on “Extreme Cheapskates” anytime soon but I really have an issue paying full price for things. I am not so frugal that I will start washing my clothes in my dirty bath water. That is just disgusting.
One of the other blog entries I read about was from a dad who unplugged his families cable and now they are a strict Netflix family. This got me thinking. Should I cut the cord on my cable to save some money. At the moment my satellite bill is at $108 and I feel that it is a little too much to pay for entertainment.
It seems that the streaming option is becoming most popular in my generation. Everyone is has Netflix and Hulu Plus. I do in addition to my satellite service. I love using Hulu Plus when I am running on the treadmill to catch up on those shows I missed and I love Netflix for their original programing like House of Cards. Now I found out that HBO is launching their own streaming service and I am very tempted to get it. I love Game of Thrones just like the other millions of people around the world. Streaming just seems the way the world is going now.
So my question to all those frugal parents out there is what do you think I should do? Should I lower my package to the basic channel selections or should I just cut it all off and live by the “streaming method”? Any thoughts and concerns are welcomed at this point.
So I only have a little over four months till my next race so I have begun training like crazy.
If you remember last year I decided to run my first race ever which was a 5k in Oak Island. I worked my butt off by following a training plan. I would come home from work and run around the neighborhood before dinner. When the race came I ended up coming 3rd in my age division. I was so pleased. Hard work paid off in a big way. My second 5k race I came in 5th. So 2014 was a great race season but now I am ready to take it further.
I ran 13.1 miles back in September just to see if I could do it and I did. I ran it in 2:30:00. It’s not bad but there is definitely room for improvement. So I bought a treadmill for my garage to train during the cold months.
So far training is going wonderful. It’s nice to be back in the habit of running. Also I get to catch up on some of my favorite Netflix shows while I run.
Wish me luck as I complete this next milestone in my running career. Here we go!
So our family has been under attack the past week. There is a very bad stomach bug going around and it started with my sweet nephew Holden, then his mom and dad. Somehow it crossed over to our house and I was sick all weekend and now my wife has it.
Since she has been upstairs getting better I have been the only one to watch K-Dub. I have parented alone before but today was an exception. K-Dub has be spending her days at Aunt Kate’s house and she has been exposed to Curious George. I don’t have a problem with the little monkey. In fact, the original stories are my favorite as a child. The show however is annoying.
All day she wanted to watch George. On my phone, iPad and TV, at breakfast, on the way to the store, and during snack time. I at first was ok with the little monkey entertaining my kid then as the day went in I just got really tired of him.
I don’t really think monkeys should be allowed in restaurant , hotels, and parks. Does anyone else think it is weird that this little monkey is just walking around everywhere. Anyway, by dinner time I was done and turned him off. This was of course after realizing we had sat threw the entire third season on Netflix. Maybe tomorrow I will feel different but until then…
