Is This A House Or A Hotel?

One of the things about having a new house is that it seems that if people know you have the extra room, they constantly want to stay with you. I might not have the right to complain and this may seem more like a rant than anything. Since my wife and I bought our house, we spent maybe six nights alone.

Please don’t get me wrong but I love my family and my in-laws. My in-laws have been more of a family lately then my own but I feel like I need to put a “No Vacancy” sign outside my window. My wife and I would like to have sometime together on weekends to do things with our daughter as a family. We don’t need her family there every weekend to dictate what our plans are. For once I would like to come home on a Saturday or even during the week and no one be there that is not living there on an everyday basis.

Here is a list of things I would like to do in my empty house

1. Walk around naked

2. Drink a beer and watch football

3. Watch The Walking Dead anytime I want

4. Take a nap

5. Take my wife on a date on a Saturday night

6. Go on a family picnic in the park

7. Spend the entire day in my underwear.

8. Take K-Dub to the Pumpkin Patch

9. Wash our cars

10. Walk around naked (Think about that again before you sit on my couch)

If you are a member of our family and you are reading this, please don’t be offended cause we love our time with you and you are awesome. We just need to have some time to be a family. We want you to come over but can you do us both a favor and call first? You never know what you might walk into.

(2) In My New House And Ready To Blog!

Sorry it has been too long since my last entry. I have now moved everything in the new house and we are almost all the way unpacked. I have most of the room completely done but there are a few big ones like my bedroom where I am still trying to find places to put stuff. I knew we were going to have more space but I never thought we would have so much of it.

The best thing about moving into a newly built house is that everything is brand new. From the floors to the appliances, you know you are the first person to use it. I like that very much considering I don’t have to worry about any issues for a few years. I also like that when I am upstairs I can’t hear anything downstairs. This make TV watching and relaxing much easier. Finally I am able to use my living room again!

Unfortunately, there are more bad things that come with a new house. I am constantly finding things wrong that should not be the way they are. For example, my wife goes to brush her teeth in out now double sink bathroom (yes I am so excited about that!!) and finds that her sink only gives out hot water. Also, my mother-in-law stayed with us recently and went to take a shower in the kids bathroom and the metal cover where the water comes out shoot across the tub and cuts her foot! Plumbing has not been the only issue. It’s hard to get mail delivered on a street that has been built recently cause it does not show up on any GPS, It took me two weeks and nine phone calls to get my trash service to deliver my new cans. I also had to deal with new construction the street behind us, which is so loud that the baby can’t seem to take her naps.

The whole buying a house experience has been one I would still do over again if I had to. There is something very rewarding about owning your own home. B and I are very happy to have a place to call home and that we have no more packing and moving in our future anytime soon.

On another note, I know things have been very crazy lately with me and I have not posted anything in a while. I have been thinking of changing the name of this blog to something that reflects my personality a lot more. I also want to post more and since now I have the time to do it, I want to take advantage of it. I do apologize for my long absence and I am proud to say that I am back and newly committed to the blog. I have some great new stories as well as some new recipes that feature my new love, my crock pot! So if any of you are still keeping up with this blog, I ask you not to give up on me. I am back and ready to blog!

(2) Stop The Madness!- Our Hurry To Move

The past few months have been nuts. Everything from packing to constantly having to check on the construction to of the new house, to having to make sure the mortgage people have everything they need has been a not so welcome stress to our lives. I never thought that planning a move could be so crazy. I used to have no problem finding the time to pack and clean the house. That was before I had a kid too.

Brittney and I are in the last phase of the completion of our new home. We are so excited. We go by the construction site almost 3 times a week and are amazed with how fast these people are putting our home together. One day we went and we had our kitchen cabinets, the next day we had our sinks and toilets, and then a few days later we had a front lawn with a new mailbox.

Things have not all been perfect with the construction process. We have found outlets in the wrong place, windows that have been broken, and we found that our outlet covers are being put on in weird ways. So far they have not been fixed but we are told that they have to be fixed before they inspect the house so we are hoping soon.

Packing our home now has been no easy task. We did get the closets cleaned out and everything off the walls but we still have to tackle the big things like the kitchen and Karsyn’s room. Our garage is full of things we are either trying to sell or give away. Some of the stuff we are keeping like some really nice end tables.

The most satisfying part of this whole thing is the moment I gave our rental company our 30 day notice. Now I have some things to figure our like when to cut the cable, power, renter’s insurance, and internet off so we can set up new services with some new providers at the new house. I have to be able to access the net and watch my shows. I have a list that is so long of things that need to be done that I finally broke down and asked my wife for help.

Regardless of our house looking like a bomb went off, I think that if I just keep a level head and take one challenge at a time I will be able to make this move with no issue. I will be listening to a lot of rest and relaxation music the next few weeks to keep me from flying off the handle so pray I make it through. Hopefully the next time I post it will be from the comfort of my new living room.

(2) Almost There To Be Called Home

So excited about the new house I can barley see straight. As you can see it is really starting to come together. We are almost a month a way from closing and the anticipation is killing us.

This past weekend we started packing the house and now out garage looks like a junk room. I hope to have a yard sale soon.

Now with the house coming along I have been looking into some projects. I want to redo the laundry room and put in cabinets and I have some grey ideas for Karsyn’s playroom. I have now become a frequent shopper at Lowes cause I am in there at least once a week looking at paint colors, lighting, and flooring. It’s just so exciting.

I will let you know when I go inside and take some pictures. That should be in the next week or two.

(2) Our New Project

Brittney and I have had a busy year. We have become parents and now we are working in phase two of our plan. We are building a house.

This picture was taken two weeks ago and now there is more to our house than this. We have walls, doors, and windows now. We are so excited to be in a new home in a little under two months.

We are now in the process of pick things out for the new house like paint, lighting and furniture. We have a lot of work ahead of us and we also have a lot of hard decisions. I will post more pictures as the house is going up.
