We’ll this is my second Father’s Day and it has been amazing. This is a very important holiday for me. It’s a time to celebrate all things DAD. I love being a dad and it’s one of jobs I take very seriously. It’s not so much of a job as it is a pleasure. The love you have for your child is one you would never trade not could ever explain. It’s always great to spend this one day a year to celebrate a man’s love for there child and everything they mean to them.
This morning I was awakened by my wife and daughter with smiles and kisses. I love those kisses. They are the best. Soon we went downstairs and my wife made me a special pancake breakfast. Then she gave me a nice big card the K-Dub made me that said “#1 DAD”. It was the best I could ask for.
My wife then surprised me with a trip to Starbucks on the way to church. She just knows how to make me feel special.
Now we are taking a trip that I will explain in my next entry. I am very excited cause I am in vacation for the next week and it’s a week full of fun and family time. Both are what this guy really needs.
So happy Father’s Day to all those other wonderful dads out their. Those blogger dads I follow, members of the Dads Round Table I follow on Twitter I just wanted to say happy Father’s Day. You guys are awesome and I would not be the dad I am today if it was not for support.
Also I can’t forget the dads I see on a regular basis who mean so much to me.
My father-in-law Ken who has showed me time and time again what it means to be a true family man and that nothing is more important.
My brother-in-law Spencer who is the best dad for my nephew. His work ethic is off the charts and is just a proven example that with a lot of hard work anything is possible.
My brother Brian who is the best example of a husband and father. My nieces are so lucky to have you. You are amazing and selfless.
And finally my dad who is my best friend. The one I can tell anything to. You have helped me so much over the years and your advice is treasured and needed. You are wonderful grandpa to K-Dub and I love you.
Happy Father’s Day Dads!
Well it’s been 20 weeks in the making and I mean that literally. Finally Brittney and I were going to find out the sex of our baby. We have been so excited for this moment and could not wait to call our kid by their real name instead of referring to them as “IT” all the time.
When we got to the doctor’s office we just could not wait to get back there and found a since of relief as the girl called our name. We went back in a rather large room and Brittney jump on the table and pulled her shirt up like a pro. As the technician was performing the ultrasound we held hands and smiled at the glimpse of our baby’s growth. It is amazing watching it move around. When the technician finally told us what we were having, we both looked at each other and smiled.
Before Brittney got pregnant she told me that she wanted to do a Gender Reveal Party. I have never heard of these and if I am being honest here, I thought that it sounded stupid. I did go along with the idea.
For anyone who does not know what this type of party consist of, please let me tell you. You bake a cake with the inside dyed either pink or blue and call your families and either go out to dinner or host one at your house. Real simple right? The hardest part is keeping it a secret until the party.
We chose to have our dinner at Olive Garden in Monroe. Both of our families came and we enjoyed a really nice meal with light conversation. Then the moment everyone was waiting for. The cake! We brought the cake out and had our families gather around as Brittney and I cut into it and revealed that it was………
Brittney and I are so happy to announce that we are going to have a daughter. Our families are very excited and can’t wait to welcome the newest addition to the clan. Now with only 20 more weeks left to go, I can say that I am truly excited to hold my baby girl for the first time. Karsyn Leigh Funderburke is going to be real daddy’s girl and I am sure I will be wrapped around her finger. Can’t wait! She makes my heart melt already!
I know that Mother’s day is coming and I just wanted to post something about the woman who helped make me the man I am today.
My mom is the best for a lot of reasons. She is always there to give my advice and encouragement. She always know the right thing to say. She goes out of her way to help others and never expects anything in return.
She is stern and strict at times but was fair. She has always made me and my friends feel at home. She is also a great cook.
Mom, I love you and I know this Mother’s Day is not going to be the way we pictured it but as long as we are with you it will be great. I can’t wait to see you tomorrow afternoon. I want you to keep your spirits high and know that no matter what happens you are always loved.
Happy Mother’s Day Mom!!!
