One of my favorite things about summer is that I can finally catch up on some of my shows that I have been missing and also discover new shows that I have been meaning to see. The summer is a great time to do this cause all of my shows are over till September and I now get to work on getting caught up before the new season starts.
This year I have decided to make a list of shows and that I either need to finish watching or start before the end of the summer. So far I have knock out a lot.
Daredevil (Last 4 episodes)
Grace and Frankie (Season 1)
Hot In Cleveland (6 episodes)
Secrets and Lies (3 episodes)
- Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D (10 episodes)
- House of Cards (Seasons 2 & 3)
- Orange Is The New Black (Season 3)
- Extant (Season 1)
Under The Dome (Seasons 1 & 2)
- Hannibal (Season 3)
- The Slap (3 episodes)
Brooklyn Nine-Nine (8 episodes)
Family Guy (4 episodes)
The Simpsons (4 episodes)
- Extreme Weight Loss (Season 5)
Agent Carter (4 episodes)
- Broadchurch (Season 1)
Melissa and Joey (7 episodes)
Baby Daddy (7 episodes)
So far I have manage to knock out a lot of my list and its just now June. I hope I can knock the rest off before September. What are you binge watching?
This past week I did something I don’t get to do very often. I actually binge watched a TV show. Most of my time is filled with either blogging, reading, working from home, or cleaning the house so I never get to stop and watch a show from start to finish.
Saturday I was messing around on my Kindle when I went to Netflix to see what was new in the queue. I saw a show called Bloodline that was new and I went online and read some about what the show was. It was a show about a dysfunctional family with secrets and lies and a brother that is the cause of it. It had a lot of great people in so I decided to try it out. I am so glad I did.
From Saturday afternoon to Sunday night I finished the first half of the 13 episode season. I was hooked and could not wait to watch another one. found myself this week watching an episode before leaving for work or before bed. I finally finished the show last night and I have to say it was great. I hope it comes back for a second season.
Now that I am done with Bloodline, I need a new binge worthy show as soon as I finish some books I have out. I still have not seen the second season of House of Cards. I might do that next.
My wife and I decided to lower our TV package. We are going to do that for a month or so and if we still don’t see a difference we will cut service and be a streaming family,
I know a lot of families that are always trying to find new ways to save money. Since I started couponing to save my family money, it has become more of an obsession than anything. Now all I am constantly doing is looking for great deals on anything that may benefit my family.
I have read a few blogs about becoming a frugal family. I found an entry about a year ago that was written by a mom who only has a budget of $50 a month. That includes gas, food, and clothes. Now I don’t want to be on “Extreme Cheapskates” anytime soon but I really have an issue paying full price for things. I am not so frugal that I will start washing my clothes in my dirty bath water. That is just disgusting.
One of the other blog entries I read about was from a dad who unplugged his families cable and now they are a strict Netflix family. This got me thinking. Should I cut the cord on my cable to save some money. At the moment my satellite bill is at $108 and I feel that it is a little too much to pay for entertainment.
It seems that the streaming option is becoming most popular in my generation. Everyone is has Netflix and Hulu Plus. I do in addition to my satellite service. I love using Hulu Plus when I am running on the treadmill to catch up on those shows I missed and I love Netflix for their original programing like House of Cards. Now I found out that HBO is launching their own streaming service and I am very tempted to get it. I love Game of Thrones just like the other millions of people around the world. Streaming just seems the way the world is going now.
So my question to all those frugal parents out there is what do you think I should do? Should I lower my package to the basic channel selections or should I just cut it all off and live by the “streaming method”? Any thoughts and concerns are welcomed at this point.
As many of my Twitter followers know, I have been trying to binge watch House of Cards on Netflix for about two weeks. This show has got me hooked and I can’t seem to stop watching it. Every night I try to squeeze an episode or two after my night workouts. I think my wife is getting tired of my keeping her awake watching it on my iPad .
it’s a very addicting show if you ask me. The twist and turns and the people constantly screwing over their friends and coworkers. The fact the Kevin Spacy’s character will stop at nothing to get his revenge on the people who screwed him over and become President is enough to keep you hooked. Everyone loves a great love to hate character. It’s bad that you want to see this guy win
I hope to finish this show soon. I am not even on season two yet. I am sure my wife would love to have me back . I tried to get her to watch it but she did not really care for it. I am only eight episodes in and can’t air to see what Frank does next!
As most of you have already read the news online (If not, click here.). Disney is trying to do a spinoff of the popular show Boy Meets World. It got me remembering my friday nights laughing at Cory, Shawn, and Topanga as they went through their lives trying to make sense of it. I also laughed every time I heard the famous “Feeny call”. The new show would focus on Cory and Topanga’s daughter and it is titled Girl Meets World. It would not be that bad to have the old gang come back and my a few guest appearances. I could use some more Mr. Feeny knowledge in my life.
There was another show that I loved and I somehow think it prepared me for adulthood and that is Friends. Even today I watch the reruns on TBS and laugh like I never heard them before. The cast needs a reunion soon. It would totally make my life. There is something about Chandler’s humor, Monica’s OCD, Joey being a womanizer, Pheobe’s silly songs and out of this world phrases that make this show so funny. Then tie it up with the romance of Ross and Rachel and you have a hit.
Another reunion that I would love to see is the Tanner Clan from Full House. It has been 25 years since the show first aired and even though most of the cast got together for an off-screen reunion this year, it would be nice to see a made for TV movie about where these characters ended up. Maybe in the movie they can play that sappy music they play at the end of episodes when it gets to real to solve a problem in 30 minutes.
I keep having my fingers crossed for more information about a 24 movie. I loved that show and the characters. Jack is and will always be my favorite CTU agent. They really need to get on the ball and make this movie so I can go on living.
The show I wish to see bring the entire cast together is Buffy The Vampire Slayer. That show is awesome and when it was on I never missed an episode. I know that a lot of the cast has gone on to bigger and better things but it would be nice to return to Sunnydale one more time. This was the one show that I have on DVD still to this day. I guess if I want to see this reunion the closest thing I can get to it is watching How I Met Your Mother. They always have people from the Buffy universe on there.
Anyone who knows me knows I love me some TV. I am so addicted to TV shows. I hate how they suck me in but I love a good story. This year I have fallen in love with some awesome new shows and loving some old shows more. Here is a list of my favorites from this season.
- How I Met Your Mother
- 2 Broke Girls
- The Big Bang Theroy
- Modern Family
- Game of Thrones
- Parks and Recreation
- The Walking Dead
I know a lot of these are returning shows but some of them I just discovered this season. Now that its season finale time, I get to be more excited for my summer shows like True Blood and Dexter. So excited!
I was recommended this app a while back by my friend Jill and it has become one of my favorite apps for my iPhone. Its called Viggle and the way it works is that every time you check into a show it gives you points. Some shows are worth more than others. After you get a lot of points you can redeem them for free stuff. I thought it was dumb at first until I traded my points for a free $15 gift card to Chilis. It worked. If you have not got this app yet please do. It is so amazing! The other best thing about it is that it is free! My kind of app!
