Our Little Family Beach Trip

This past weekend we headed down to Holden Beach for a little family vacation. Nothing fancy but us and the rest of BrittWhitFun’s family. We really had no choice cause of all the renovations going on we could not be at the house.

The first day we were there we had a great breakfast over at Nana’s house. We then headed to the dock and got on my FIL’s boat. There is just something great about being on a boat in the summer time. We rode around for a while and found a great spot on the inlet and set up camp.

We spent the entire morning and afternoon playing in the sand, swimming, fishing, and just relaxing. It was great. The beach is one of my favorite places and it is awesome that my in laws share the same joy.

After we got done we loaded up camp and came back to the dock. We went back to the motel we were staying and got showers. After we got cleaned off we headed back over to Nana’s house so the kids could have some alone time with their Pop and Nana while the adults went out to dinner.

We had a great dinner at Provision Company which included a couple of cocktails and seafood. It is always great to get away without the kids and enjoy some adult laughs and conversation.  After dinner we went to a local ice cream shop where my SIL just can’t seem to eat an ice cream cone the right way. I mean who bites the end of a cone with ice cream still in there?

After some much needed rest we ready for day two. We went back to Nana’s house and ate breakfast again and then headed down to the beach.

We spent another long morning and afternoon on the beach swimming, digging holes, looking for seashells, and eating burgers from the local pier. Its was an awesome day. My kids got disgusting, especially Evie, and had to be rinsed off before heading home.

I must say I love my in laws and my little family. Our beach trips are always so much fun. I hope that even though our Nana is selling her place that we can continue these trips and enjoy each others company.

Uncle & Nephew Time

It is not every day I get to spend the entire afternoon with just my nephew but this past weekend was one of those rare occasions. We met up with my SIL and BIL at the park the other day and let the kids play and run any excess energy they had out. It also gave us adults some time to chat. My nephew Holden and K-Dub where playing and having a great time like always.

When it came time to leave I may have invited my nephew over to hang with me not thinking he would actually want to. He is three and his parents, especially his mom, are his world. The was a very good lesson for me cause he actually said yes and I would have looked like a complete A-hole if I said no.

So after we all went to lunch together, his parents dropped him off at my house and went on their way to do some shopping. My wife and kids had a birthday party to go to and I was left with Holden. I had no idea what we where going to do. He looked at me and I asked hime. He said he wanted to go the movies.

We ended up going to the movies and seeing Boss Baby which was actually a great little movie. It was way better then I expected and it also gave me an opportunity to spoil my nephew with popcorn, candy and soda. He loved it.

After the movie I really wanted a cup of coffee and Holden may have let it slip that he wanted a cake pop. So being the cool uncle I am, we went to Starbucks.

When dropping him off he told me I was his best friend and showed me his new Captain America costume he got for Costume Day at school. I really ended up having a ton of fun with this kid.

I love all my nephews and nieces and sometimes it is just nice to take them and spoil them a little bit and work on our relationship. My mom once told me that every person you come in contact with, even if it was a bad contact, shape you to who you are and who you will be. I feel that I am shaping my nephew to be even more awesome then he already is.

Happy Birthday Holden!

I never knew that in one year I could bond with someone that is not even my child. The bond we have as an uncle and nephew is something I will always treasure. You are so special and I can’t wait to see you learn more and more and grow.

I love being your favorite uncle and can’t wait to help teach you how to be man. You have the best parents in the world. They love you and would stop at nothing to make sure you are happy.

You aunt and I promise to be always be there for no matter what to provide a place where you can come and hang out and tell us what’s bothering you. We also promise to always have ice cream.

Happy first birthday my little buddy. Your Uncle T-Fun loves you very much.

As many of you know, I always tried to do at leat one fun activity with K-Dub on Monday. We go to the indoor pool at the gym, take a nice long walk in the neighborhood, or spend the day at the park. I have found it very easy to keep K-Dub active and entertained and she always finds away to make her Daddy exhausted. Although it is easy for me to find fun things to do with K-Dub on Mondays, my wife has had a rough time trying to find things that are not too pricy and fun to do with K-Dub on Saturdays.

I work every Saturday and my wife works on Mondays when I am off so we each try to make a special activity for us to do with K-Dub to get some quality time with our daughter. My wife most of the time just tries to find something for them to do around the house, like a craft,  make some kind of new recipe, or almost 98% of the time my mother is there to see them.

Last weekend, my wife came up with a great idea. My mother-in-law was busy and was not able to make the long trip from Hickory to come for her visit, so my wife started to look on the internet for something for her and K-Dub to do. After a couple of hours of searching she found it. After finding her destination, she called her sister Kate and asked if she and my nephew, HJ would love to come. They agreed.

Where was this amazing place you ask? It was really amazing and a lot of fun. It was in the heart of the city of Charlotte. It was called Ray’s Splash Planet, which is an indoor water park and also a recreation center for Mecklenburg County residents.

I actually was able to get out of work early so I could go too. I met my wife and her sister and we left with the babies in tow. When we arrived there was hardly a place to park. We ended up parking at a local elementary school and walked over.

The line to get in was very unorganized, but once we finally got in it was worth it. They had a splash playground complete with little slides and tunnels. They had a big pool with a vortex that I did not care for. They had the big tube slides to go down. We stayed close to the kids who had a blast splashing around. They had so much fun that they passed out on the way home.

All and all it was a great day and will be back soon.

Night Of The Living Babies!

So last week I went and did my usual race training, which ended up being my best yet at 27:45. After I was done, I came home and saw that my sister-in-law was over with my nephew HJ. They were sitting in the living room having a conversation with my wife about who knows.

For those of you who don’t know, Kate, my sister-in-law, is a full-time nanny and a stay at home mom. She is always busy and never gets a break. So I was feeling really good after my run(It was “Runner’s High) and suggested that her and my wife go get some coffee and leave me alone with the two kids. You would have thought  gave Kate a golden ticket. She jumped up at the idea and fully agreed.

So as they were getting ready to leave she gave me the whole story on watching HJ’s head around corners and to just play with him to keep him happy. I told her that I had this and it could not be that hard. I have never watched two kids at one time and I really had no clue what I was getting myself into. I was a little scared but I knew better that anyone that a parent needs a break to remember that they are a person and to recharge their battery.

After they left, things were going great. K-Dub and HJ were playing great and we took some selfies, played with a ball, and I even sneaked and gave them both a cookie(Sorry Kate). Everything was fine until K-Dub started to get really tired and wanted a bottle. Once HJ saw me feeding K-Dub a bottle he became very jealous and started to wine.

So there I was with two babies in my lap. One that was crying cause she was tired and the other because he was hungry. Did I panick? No! I sat them both down and started to play with them and they were fine. Soon after that the moms came home and all was well. I gave them a good report and they rewarded me with Starbucks(I guess it’s not much of a reward when they used your debit card.).

Would I watch two kids alone again? You bet you ass I would. I guess I need to learn how to deal with these now. Someday BrittWhitFun and I would like to add baby number two to the family and people say that two is more difficult than one. I guess I will have to wait to find out. For now, I have to say I think I could handle it.

2013 Is The Year For Unclehood!

Well I am so excited because not only am I now a father to an amazing little girl, but I am going to be an Uncle for not the second time but a third time. My sister in law Cristina is pregnant with my brother’s second child. They are having another girl. I already love Charlee Bell to pieces and now I get to spoil another niece! It’s going to be a good time. They are keeping the name a secret until the birth so I just call her Baby No. 2. She is due to arrive in July.

Also Brittney’s sister Kate and her now husband Spencer are having a baby! Their baby is going to be her in June and I am so excited. It’s a boy, which is very awesome cause its the first boy in Brittney’s family in 43 years. They have named this bundle of joy Holden James Williams. He is named after our families favorite beach and home to the world’s best Nana. Kate has decided to start a blog about her experiences. You can follow it by clicking here

So excited about my growing family!

My Crazy Niece

Sorry I have not posted anything in a while. It’s been a crazy few weeks. I hope you all did not miss me and you kept up with my Twitter feed. This past week I got to hang out with my awesome niece. She is growing up so fast and it’s so hard to believe she is going to be two at the end of this month.

I posted a video of our new favorite game. Before the video was taken she was trying to find the baby under Brittney’s shirt. It was too cute. Here is the video and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did filming it.

Have a great day everyone.
